The Acquisitions Section geared towards the collection development, maintenance and evaluation of the library collection. It is responsible for strengthening the collection through customers’ needs analysis, selection, acquisition and deselection. It coordinates with the faculty library committee and the different section librarians in order to develop, maintain the Collection Development Policy.
This section serves as the coordinator for the activities of the Library Faculty Committee (LFC) and provides administrative and logistics support in all of its activities.

The Circulation and Reserve Sections houses and circulate an adequate collection of books covering a wide variety of subject areas and titles prescribed by Faculty members as textbooks for their particular courses.
Circulation Books
Circulation books are books supporting the curricular offering of the university. All subject fields are covered by the collection. These books are arranged in the stack area according to the Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme. Five (5) books can be borrowed by non-graduating students for three days and can be renewed for another three days unless needed or reserved by other users. While graduating students may borrow seven (7) books for one week. A fine of Php 15.00 per day per books is charged for late returns.
Reserve Books
Reserve books are required and collateral readings for a particular subject. Two (2) reserve books can be borrowed for one period and can be renewed for another period if not needed or reserved by other users. A fine of Php 5.00 per hour per book is charge for late returns of Reserve book.
Reader’s Assistance Service- Provides assistance to users in locating needed materials.
Current Awareness Service- Newly acquired books are displayed for a while, so that students can see what is new as far as their material needs are concerned.
Circulation books can be searched through the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) located at the 2nd and third floor of the University Library.
The library adopts the open shelf system where users have access to the stack collection, thereby, they can choose by themselves the books they would like to borrow/use.

The section houses materials about the Philippines, regardless of authors, imprint or format, except works written by Filipinos treating universally accepted ideas like statistics, mathematics, physics, etc.
The book collection covers an adequate range of reading materials designed to meet the instructional and research needs of users.
Various types of Filipiniana ready reference materials are: Almanacs; Yearbooks; Bibliographies; Indexes; Biographical Sources; Directories; Dictionaries; encyclopedia of the Philippines; legal materials such as Public Laws, Commonwealth Act, Republic Acts and Presidential Decrees; Maps like political maps, route maps, etc.; and Rizaliana collection, his works and works about him and his writings.
Undergraduate theses are also housed in the Filipiniana Section. They can use the materials for room use only.
Pamphlets collections are also housed in the section.
Books are arranged on the shelves according to the Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme. Filipiniana reference, Filipiniana biography and Rizaliana books are organized on the shelves according to their category. Location symbols are used for easy retrieval of these materials as:

Current Awareness – informing the users about the new resources available through book display or bibliography list.
The staff attends to users’ needs as far as their Filipiniana materials are concerned.

Collection
The open shelf system is practiced in the Reference Section. Materials are arranged on the shelves according to their call numbers, using Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme. Shelf reading is being done regularly. Records are maintained and updated properly.
Facilities
The area is functionally and conveniently designed. It is kept attractive and comfortable to researchers. There is sufficient lightning and ventilation. A reference desk/counter is strategically situated in the section to attend the users’ needs. The materials are properly labeled for the users’ guidance.
Services
Pamphlets- are publications that contain valuable information. They are either of permanent or ephemeral value. They are indexed and organized in a vertical file cabinet for easy access as ready reference sources.
Pathfinders- are guides to the literature and resources in a particular subject area. They are subject oriented research guides designed to encourage researchers a self-directed use of the library.

One important section of the library is the Audio Visual Unit. It caters to the faculty, students and other members of the community wherein they can preview or view educational & inspirational non-print materials to complement their educational needs.
The collection consists of videodiscs such as DVDs, VCDs, Video tapes, and electronic materials such as DVD-ROMs, CD-ROMs & Transparencies, Pictures, Maps, etc. The non-print materials complement the information and educational needs of the customers.

The library houses the collection of books, theses and dissertations and other materials for the exclusive use of graduate school students. However, the undergraduate students may be allowed access to the materials only from Monday to Friday, but are not allowed to take the materials for home reading use.
To support the curricular offerings of the Graduate School Department by providing academic library resources and services through continuous development, enrichment, upgrading and maintenance of books and non-book materials.

Book collections on the other hand, are merged with the collection of the Circulation Section found at the third floor.
Accompanying materials (CDs) of books should be borrowed together with the corresponding textbook.

All requests for the use of Audio Visual materials must be for instructional or educational purposes only.
Graduate School Faculty who wish to preview materials in preparation for classroom instruction may check out a limited number of items in the Audio Visual Area. Faculty must be with their students during the viewing periods.
Research Reference Services
Personal assistance provided by the library staff in helping library users to become self-directed and independent learners in the use of library materials.
The primary function of the staff is to charge materials to the readers expeditiously. They are also responsible for the care and maintenance of the collection. They see to it that books are properly arranged on the shelves anytime, so that they can be located when needed.
All books in the section are reflected in the On-Line Public Access Catalog (OPAC).

The Periodicals is the place where needed information may be found in journals, magazines, newspapers, and other serial literature. It has record of all serial holdings that come in successive issues or numbers, usually at a regular interval.
The open shelf system is used in the Periodicals. Bound periodicals are arranged alphabetically by title on the shelves. Back issues are also arranged alphabetically by title and are organized at the back issue stacks area. Current issues are properly displayed on the display racks.
The librarian monitors issues of the periodicals so that when completed, these are sent to a binder.
When there are missing issues, the librarian writes the publisher or dealer regarding the matter.

Collection in this section are restricted to room use only, however, back issues may be borrowed photocopy or upon the approval of the librarian-in-charge.
