PRIVACY STATEMENT

This is Holy Angel University’s (“HAU”) Privacy Statement, which informs data subjects of the categories of personal data it processes and the purpose and extent of processing.

Who are we?

HAU is an academic institution, considered the Philippines' first Catholic school founded by a layman, a local philanthropist, Don Juan D. Nepomuceno, in 1933. HAU currently offers programs in Basic Education and Higher Education.

What personal data do we collect?

As an academic institution, HAU collects the following Personal data:

  • Personal details such as name, birth, gender, civil status, and affiliations;
  • Contact information such as address, email, mobile number, and telephone number;
  • Any or all information obtained through interviews and/or during entrance tests or admission examinations;
  • Academic or curricular information, such as test scores, grades, courses, and academic standing;
  • Co-curricular information, such as service learning, outreach activities, internship, or apprenticeship compliance;
  • Extra-curricular information, such as membership in student organizations, leadership positions, and participation and attendance in seminars, competitions, programs, outreach activities, and study tours;
  • Any disciplinary matters, including the results thereof
  • Employment information such as government-issued numbers, position, and functions;
  • Employee-Applicant information such as academic background and previous employments;
  • Medical information, such as physical, psychiatric, and psychological information.

What do we do with your personal data?

HAU processes Personal Data for the following purposes;

  1. Purposes necessary for HAU to perform its obligations, exercise its rights, and conduct its functions as an academic institution in compliance with existing laws and regulations;
  2. Purposes to perform acts and decisions necessary for HAU to defend its own rights and interests;
  3. Compliance with legal, regulatory, administrative, or judicial requirements, including audit, reporting, accreditation, and transparency requirements.

Where do we store your data?

Personal Data are stored in physical and electronic form, managed and controlled by various departments and offices of HAU. Physical records are generally stored in folders and envelopes in secured drawers and shelves. Electronic records are generally stored on servers controlled by HAU or in cloud storage controlled by the same. Access to personal data is limited to HAU personnel who have a legitimate interest in it to carry out their contractual duties.

To whom do we share your data with?

HAU might share Personal Data with third parties in pursuit of HAU’s function as an academic institution and in furtherance of its legitimate and lawful interests and rights. It might also share Personal Data in compliance with legal, regulatory, administrative, or judicial requirements. Rest assured, all data sharing complies with Republic Act No. 10173, also known as the Data Privacy Act of 2012, and its Implementing Rules and Regulations.

For how long do we keep your data?

Unless otherwise provided by law or by appropriate HAU policies, HAU will retain your relevant personal data indefinitely for historical and statistical purposes. Where a retention period is provided by law and/or a University policy, all affected records will be securely disposed of after such period.

As provided for by Republic Act No. 10173, also known as the Data Privacy Act of 2012, Data subjects have the following rights:
