GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

Career and Placement Office seeks to help graduating students succeed in their transition from school to work, give them greater access to a wider range of employment possibilities, and assist them in their chosen career.  This is in line with the University’s mission of developing students into persons of conscience, competence and compassion.

 

CORE FUNCTIONS

  1. To increase students’ awareness of career development as a concept linking education and work.
  2. To help students prepare themselves to become competent professionals in their fields of specialization.
  3. To establish strong linkage with various companies and universities for the employment of the graduates.
  4. To conduct annual follow-up studies of graduates in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the services of this Office, as well as the academic department.
  5. To protect the graduates from unscrupulous businesses and agencies through coordination with proper government agencies.

SERVICES TO STUDENTS

CAREER CONSULTATION (Career Coaching)

This is intended to facilitate self-awareness and self-direction in determining goals and plans of students. It specifically aims to:

  1. Help students develop an attitude of career planning.
  2. Provide students accessible career development services through online consultation.
  3. Assist students in various concerns on career decision making through a discussion of employment prospects of various careers.
  4. Help students effectively advance their careers in making their transitionfrom college to the workforce.

FORUM ON CAREER OPTIONS

This aims to promote career awareness among college students, as regard the nature of their course, college requirements, and job opportunities. This is a requirement for all Grade 12 and college freshman students.

FOR SENIOR HIGH

Career Forum for Grade 12 students

  • This forum helps Grade 12 students decide on what course to take/pursue in college.
  • Speakers from the different Schools/Colleges will discuss the requirements and job opportunities in their chosen field.

 

FOR COLLEGE FRESHMEN

The College Freshmen Career Exploration

  • This entails a more comprehensive discussion on the major field of specialization students decide to take. Through this forum, students will be enlightened if they are on the right track/major. 
  • This Career exploration improves students’ knowledge of career options so as to encourage them to develop and work toward their goals during the years when they are also beginning to venture college life.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP

On-campus recruiting/information session is a great way for companies to connect with our students/alumni. It gives them an opportunity to conduct orientation, interview and exam to our alumni anytime of the year.

This service aims to equip all graduating students with the strategies on their job hunting.

Procedure:

This online workshop features job search topics such as preparing resumes, portfolios, cover letters, interview etiquette, winning the interview and power dressing. Our linkage partner Jobs180.com will facilitate the workshop through Facebook Live, webinars and Zoom.

MOCK JOB INTERVIEW

This is one of the very best way to prepare graduating students for an actual employment interview. Through this one-on-one online mock job interview by CPO’s partner companies, students will be coached by the interviewer on the techniques and what to improve during the actual interview.

JOB FAIR

This aims to provide avenues for graduating students to get a job at least before they graduate. It also aims to assist partner companies in their manpower needs.

JOB PLACEMENT

This aims to provide alumni the opportunities to become more informed about the current labor market needs. It also intends to:

  1. Provide the alumni an update from time to time on job openings from partner companies
  2. Automatically send up-to-date job openings through alumni’s email address

SERVICES TO COMPANIES

Graduates Listing

CPO provides the list of graduates to companies for employment purposes.

Procedures:

  1.  The CPO maintains a list of graduates every semester.
  2. Companies and schools can request for such by writing a letter of request to the office. List of graduates will be sent through email.

Job Posting Service

CPO assists companies and schools in posting/advertising their job openings.

Procedures:

  1. CPO will post the job openings of the companies and schools through the HAU-CPO Facebook page.
  2. CPO will send a weekly email to company for any updates on their job openings.
