Degree Name

The degree program described herein shall be called bachelor of Secondary Education major in Religious and Values Education (BSEd-Religious and Values Education)

 

Nature of the Field of Study

The Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) major in Religious and Values Education is an undergraduate teacher education program designed to equip learners with adequate and relevant learning competencies to teach Religion and Values Education in the secondary level.

 

Degree / Program Goals

The BSEd major in Social Studies program aims to develop highly motivated and competent teachers specializing in the content and pedagogy for Religion and Values Education teaching.

Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)

After finishing the program, the students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate understanding of the Values Education Framework of the K to 12.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of various philosophical and theoretical underpinnings of teaching religious and values Education.
  3. Become an exemplar of Filipino values by advocating universal values of peace and social justice, respect for human rights and by applying strong moral and ethical principles in their decisions and actions as religious and values education teacher.
  4. Demonstrate competence in employing various pedagogical approaches; methods and techniques for teaching values; and strategies for effective intra and interpersonal skills.
  5. Demonstrate competence in the conduct of research and utilization of results to improve religious and values education by analyzing local, regional, national and global trends and issues relevant to religious and values education.
  6. Demonstrate in-depth knowledge in developing and using traditional and non-traditional strategies for assessing learner’s performance in religious and values education.
  7. Demonstrate competence in integrating context appropriate technology to optimize teaching and learning.
  8. Manifest commitment to community service as a means to promote social values.
