History The School of Engineering and Architecture (SEA), formerly College of Engineering, was established on July 23, 1963, starting with one-year general engineering course. Through the years the college expanded its degree programs, and in 1991 the Bachelor of Science and Electronics and Communications Engineering (BSECE), now Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering was offered and may be considered first in Region III. The BSECE program was given government recognition two years after its initial offering. On August 30, 1993, it was conferred Level 1 accreditation by the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges, and Universities (PAASCU). On June 30, 1995, the program attained Level 2 accreditation by Federation of Accrediting Agencies of the Philippines (FAAP) through PAASCU. In 2008, the Graduate School enriched its programs through the inclusion of Master of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering. The School of Engineering and Architecture exerts considerable effort in strengthening its engineering education. On May 2020, PAASCU presented Level 2 re-accredited status to the BSECE program. Program Description The Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering at Holy Angel University provides a program of study that equips students with updated knowledge in the field of electronics and communications, develop their critical thinking ability, enrich their skills in design and development and provide high competencies in the field of electronics, communications and ICT. The ECE program aims to develop graduates that possess the following Institutional Learning Outcomes: show effective communication, demonstrate appropriate value and sound ethical reasoning, apply critical and creative thinking, utilize civic and global learning, use applied and collaborative learning, employ aesthetic engagement and show ICT literacy. Achievements and Accreditation Status The BSECE program has been recognized to be one of the top performing schools by the Philippine Regulatory Commission in Electronics and Communications board examination, receiving several top performing school recognitions in the past ECE and ECT board exams: October 2008 (Top 2 ECE), October 2017 (Top 7 ECT), October 2018 (Top 8 ECT), October 2019 (Top 2 ECE), and October 2019 (Top 4 ECT). The Philippine Commission on Higher Education (CHED) elevated HAU to autonomous status starting in 2003, a recognition which the University continues to hold to the present. A number of HAU academic programs are internationally-certified. HAU has been awarded International Organization for Standardization certification in 2019, and re-accreditation in 2020, for its quality management system encompassing both academic programs and support services in basic and higher education. The University is also one of a handful of higher educational institutions in the country to receive the Philippine Quality Award.
