The Reflection is the official student publication of the School of Education, Holy Angel University. Also known as Reple, the publication commits itself to embody its name by reflecting clear and untainted news to the teacher education community. As a student publication, The Reflection endeavors to commit student journalists to the practice of responsible journalism that adheres to the principles of fairness and accuracy as reflected in the Campus Journalism Act of 1991.
The Reflection was established by dedicated teacher education students of the previous College of education in the year 1984 in which on its founding year, the publication was headed by Mr. Arnel Ocampo. The Reflection was a functional publication that caters to the need for the latest information of the teacher education community by releasing broadsheets and tabloids. In 1991, the publication entered its first “Golden Age” wherein The Reflection was hailed as the Best College Publication and Best News Page amongst all student-publication in Holy Angel University under the leadership of Ms. Nora Lagman. In the years 2007 to 2017, the publication’s department merged with the College of Arts and Science, resulting in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education (CASED). Consequently, the publication that represented previously the voice of the teacher education community, was handled by The Nexus. It was only until the year 2017 when Reple was once again recognized as a student-publication, after the reestablishment of School of Education.
Ever since its official rebirth in 2017, The Reflection entered its second “Golden Age” during Abelardo Jr. Cortez’ term in 2019-2020. The publication was hailed as the Overall Champion during the University Press Conference in University Days 2020, had staffers which were hailed champions in Features Category (Shaina Gil Sunga), Science Category (Ma. Angela Cordova), and Collaborative Desktop (Abelardo Jr. Cortez, Nicole Diane Liwanag, Daphne Nicole Medina, Chesa Filosofo, and Mark Lester Samson), had staffers earning distinctions and awards in Editorial and Entertainment Cartooning (Milker Gutierrez and Sophia Marie Valencia). Up until now, The Reflection is still recognized as one of the active publications on the campus by means of continuously involving students and uplifting the spirit of campus journalism through various activities and releases.
