SHTM’s APAG 2019 recognizes outstanding restaurants in Pampanga

Holy Angel University's School of Tourism and Hospitality Management (SHTM) successfully concluded ASLAG 2019's "APAG": The HAU Awards for Hospitality and Tourism Excellence on May 24, 2019 at the Plaza San Jose. The award-giving body, on its first run awarded Pampanga's finest restaurants from the following categories: Most Popular Ethnic Restaurant, Most Popular Casual Dining Restaurant, Most Popular Family Restaurant, Most Popular Buffet Restaurant, Most Popular Dinescape, Students’ Choice Award, Employees’ Choice Award and Restaurant of the Year.
A survey was administered to the HAU community ranging from college students to employees. About 1,500 votes were casted which determined the awardees for the said categories.
The organizing body, SHTM submitted nominations for the different categories in the special awards. The nominees were then screened by a distinguished panel of jurors in a rigorous evaluation held last May 9 at the STL Accreditation Room. The screening identified the winners for the Best in Restaurant Concept, Outstanding Restaurateur, Outstanding Chef, Promising Chef and Pampanga’s Classics were decided.

The Best in Restaurant Concept award recognized the endeavors of a food establishment, large or small who has led the way in bringing new product, innovative concept or designs. Consideration was given to overall originality and uniqueness of products, merchandising, marketing and brand image.
The Outstanding Restaurateur set the high national standards in restaurant operations and entrepreneurship. The awardee must be in the restaurant business for at least 10 years.
The Outstanding Chef is a working chef in Pampanga whose career has set national industry standards and has served as an inspiration to other food professionals. The awardee must be working as a chef for the past five years.
The Promising Chef is a chef age 30 or younger who displays an impressive talent and who is likely to make a significant impact on the industry in the years to come.
The Pampanga’s Classics recognizes restaurants in Pampanga that invoke a sense of nostalgia and has been a part of every Kapampangan families during milestone celebrations. With timeless appeal, it is beloved by the community for quality food. The establishment must have been in existence at least 15 years and be locally owned; preferably it is also informal and moderately priced.
