Angeles City's Holy Angel University (HAU), the first Catholic school in the Philippines founded by the laity, will observe its 89th Founders Day on March 8, Tuesday, with wreath-laying ceremonies at the founder’s gravesite at Holy Mary Memorial Park. It was in 1933 when the town’s former mayor Juan D. Nepomuceno, assisted by the parish priest, Fr. Pedro Santos, opened Holy Angel Academy for his eldest son Javier who brought along with him his 77 schoolmates from his previous school. The first principal was Ricardo Flores.
The wreath-laying ceremonies will be followed by a Holy Mass at 8:00 a.m. at the University Chapel, to be attended by socially distanced members of the academic community, including invited student leaders.
This will be followed by the HAU Performing Arts' online musical concert at 10:00 a.m.
The day-long celebration will be capped with an online book launching of “Kapampangan Ku” and the 20th Anniversary Celebration of the HAU Center for Kapampangan Studies.
The next day marks the start of the University Days sponsored by the University Student Council and various student councils and organizations.
All programs will be livestreamed via HAU’s official Facebook page.
