School of Education
October 9, 2024
In celebration of the International Day of Peace, Holy Angel University - School of Education (HAU-SEd) organizes peace-building events on September 24-25 and October 2, 2024, imparting the essence of peace to learners and empowering the necessity of positive school culture in maintaining peace.
The commemoration, themed "Cultivating a Culture of Peace," formally began on September 24, 2024, with a ribbon-cutting and dove release ceremony in Saint Joseph Hall (SJH) Lobby, affirming educators' promise for peace. In attendance at the ceremony were SEd students, graced by Dean Alma Natividad, the Dean of the School of Education (SEd), and SEd Program Chairperson, Dr. Elmer Sotiangco.
Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony was the opening of booths pitched by first to third-year students the following day, September 25. Various booths, such as snacks, meditation, and photobooths, filled the SJH lane, extending a warm welcome to students and participants from the interschool competition.
The interschool competition categories include Video Advocacy Campaigns, Poster Making, Essay Writing, Extemporaneous Speech, and Spoken Poetry. These competitions were participated by representatives from Chevalier School, Don Bosco Academy of Pampanga Inc., Holy Angel University, Holy Family Academy, Royal International School, San Juan High, Schools Division of Pampanga-Malino National High School, and St. Scholastica's Academy - Pampanga.
As part of the highlights of this annual celebration, the SEd faculty and students gathered at HAU Chapel last September 27 for the Holy Mass, which was presided over by RDO. PD. Marvin Dizon. The mass also initiated the commissioning rites for student catechists, involving 2nd-year SEd students.
Furthermore, the event featured a Peace Forum on October 4 conducted at SJH Academic Hall, having Dr. Gail R. Galang, Mr. Araon M. Quimora, and Miguel R. Castro III from Miriam College Grade School, along with Dr. Rowena R. Hibanada, the Director of the Global Citizenship Education (GCED) Cooperation Centre-Philippines at the Philippine National University and Mr. Jefferson De Jesus from Holy Angel University, delivering various eye-opening and mind-nourishing discussions on cultivating inner peace and reinforcing peace through peace-building and peace-keeping school initiatives.
The commemoration culminated with the awarding of winners for the various competitions.

The event was organized by second-year SEd students in collaboration with the Eduk Council, headed by Governor Kyla Yvette Gonzales.
For years, the SEd has taken the lead in organizing the International Peace Day celebration, emphasizing that fostering peace begins with small steps, such as involving students, educators, in advancing and upholding peace within themselves, as well as spreading it to others and the rest of society.
