HAU Cybersecurity Students honored in Senate along with other Philippine National Skills Competition Champions for TESDA gold medal victory

August 28, 2024 – Holy Angel University’s School of Computing proudly celebrated a remarkable achievement as BS Cybersecurity students Railly Mallari and Ralph Baskin Bognot, accompanied by their coach, Dr. Marlon I. Tayag, the Dean of SOC, were invited to the Senate of the Philippines. This recognition followed their recent victory as TESDA Gold Medalists in the 2024 Philippine National Skills Competition for the Cybersecurity category.

Before heading to the Senate, the team made a courtesy call to the Holy Angel University President, Mr. Leopoldo Valdez, and to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Al Biag. Both university leaders expressed their pride and commended the students and their coach for bringing honor to the institution.

Later that day, the team joined an elite group of champions honored by Senator Joel Villanueva at the Senate. During the event, Senator Villanueva delivered an inspiring speech that highlighted the pivotal role of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the Philippines. He emphasized how the skills acquired through TVET are crucial in driving the nation’s progress and in providing valuable opportunities for Filipino youth.

The senator also praised the winners for their dedication and hard work, acknowledging the importance of their achievements in setting a standard of excellence for students and professionals alike in the cybersecurity field. The event underscored the significance of nurturing skills that are essential not only for individual success but also for the country’s overall development.

This recognition is a testament to the exceptional performance of Holy Angel University’s students and the steadfast support and mentorship provided by their faculty. The entire School of Computing stands proud of their accomplishments, which bring honor not only to the university but to the entire nation.
