HAU at the 3rd National Peace Education Summit

Ms. Helen Mae Moreno from the HAU Basic Education Department joins other key peace advocates and peacebuilders around the country as she shared HAU’s peace education integration during the 3rd National Peace Education Summit held at the Luxent Hotel, Quezon City, today, September 25. As one of the panel discussants, Ms. Moreno, an alumnus and product of the HAU School of Education’s peace education advocacy, emphasized the importance of the formation/training of pre-service teachers for a successful peace integration practice in the actual teaching. 

She challenged the participants that peace education integration must transcend beyond content and theories instead, students must apply the concepts of peace in real-life situations like immersion and service learning. This annual two-day event is organized by the Office of the Presidential Adviser for Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) as part of its month-long celebration of peace consciousness month this September.
