In the spirit of giving and compassion, the College of Criminal Justice Education and Forensics (CCJEF) recently organized a heartwarming community extension service at the Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth in Magalang, Pampanga. The event aimed to bring joy and festive cheer to Children In Conflict with the Law (CICL) residing in the rehabilitation center. The initiative was spearheaded by the dedicated faculty, students, and staff of the CCJEF, who envisioned a meaningful way to positively impact the lives of the CICL at the Regional Rehabilitation Center.
The December 19, 2023, event witnessed the collaborative efforts of students, faculty, and local sponsors who generously contributed to the success of "Christmas Rays of Hope." The outreach program featured various activities designed to create a festive and inclusive atmosphere. The event's highlight was a thoughtful gift-giving ceremony, where each CICL received slippers and snacks. In addition to these gifts, 12 sacks of rice were donated.
In addition to the gift-giving, the Criminology interns organized interactive games to engage the recipients. CCJEF Dean Niño M. Kabiling, the driving force behind the initiative, shared his thoughts on the event, saying, "Christmas Rays of Hope was not just a gift-giving event; it was an opportunity to connect with these young individuals, to show them that they are valued, and to inspire positive change. The support from our students and the community demonstrates the collective power we have to make a difference in the lives of others."
A notable event highlight was a heartfelt message from Mr. Robert V. Gatmaitan, the Head of the Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth. In his message, Mr. Cruz emphasized the pivotal role that the CCJEF plays as a strategic partner for various programs at the center. He extended his sincere appreciation for the ongoing initiatives, noting that the collaboration with CCJEF significantly enhances the rehabilitation and reintegration efforts for the youth in their care.
"The CCJEF has proven to be our center's valuable and committed strategic partner. Their initiatives go beyond traditional outreach and positively impact our client's lives. We are grateful for their continuous support and the genuine care they demonstrate," said Mr. Gatmaitan.
As the Christmas season continues, the "Christmas Rays of Hope" community extension service exemplifies how a community led by compassionate individuals can impact those facing challenges. The CCJEF looks forward to building on this initiative, fostering a sense of community and support for all members of society, especially those who need it the most.
