SED Hosts Webinar for Deped Teachers

School of Education

March 24, 2021

The School of Education (SED) Graduate Program wrapped up the 2nd Trimester SY 2020-2021 with a free webinar via Zoom dubbed “Strengthening University Relations, Connecting with Communities” on March 20, 2021. The webinar was initiated and organized by Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) students under the tutelage of Dr. Efren F. Abulencia, Guest Lecturer in the graduate program.

The Dean of SED, Alma M. Natividad, Ph.D., emphasized that the webinar was a way to give back to the community as part of SED’s community extension/outreach thrusts. It was attended by 116 public school teachers from Angeles City primarily coming from the Alberto G. Tinio Elementary School (AGTES), SED’s adopted school, and graduate students of the Holy Angel University.

The resource speaker for the webinar, Dr. Carmelo John Vidal, former Extension Director and Dean of the Graduate School of the University of Luzon, Dagupan City, centered on the basics of using Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel. He also shared the University of Luzon’s initiatives on extension services and the trifocal functions of higher education institutions.

The Ph.D. student-organizers expressed their elation at being “able to help a good number of DepEd teachers” and receiving kind and generous comments from the participants. They also agreed that “the real winners, when all forces in education are put together, are the students”. They hoped that this webinar will be an impetus to a yearly tradition in the SED Graduate Program.
