SEd celebrates 2021 International Peace Day

For the 10th year, the School of Education (SEd) joined the world in celebrating the International Day of Peace with the theme: “Recovering Better for a Sustainable and Equitable World”. A series of activities was organized by 2nd Year education students to uphold and continue SEd’s advocacy for real and lasting Peace.

The celebration kicked off with the celebration of the Sacrifice of the Mass with special intention last September 17, 2021. The highlight of the celebration was the Regional Peace Forum on September 24, which was participated in by 310 students and teachers from public and private schools in Region 3. The forum was graced by two interviewees from Myanmar— a student and a Roman Catholic priest who narrated their experiences on what is happening in their war-torn country. The main event of the forum was a talk on the theme of the celebration, delivered by Dr. Agustin Martin Rodriguez, a Professor of Philosophy from the Ateneo de Manila University and Guest Lecturer of the Holy Angel University, SEd-Graduate Program.

Aside from the regional forum, competitions were also held for students to participate in. The following were the competitions, with the names of the winners:

1. Paspas Dila (Spoken Poetry in Filipino)

  • 1st Place: Dion Samia (University of the Assumption)
  • 2nd Place: Farah Bucoy (Holy Angel University)
  • 3rd Place: Aezel Villacruel (Royal International School, Inc.)

2. Essay Writing Contest

  • 1st Place: Godwin Pring (Holy Angel University)
  • 2nd Place: Francesca Mae Ignacio (Holy Angel University)
  • 3rd Place: Kimwell Gutierrez (Potrero National High School)

3. Pagsulat ng Sanaysay

  • 1st Place: Jamyl Mark Indon (San Rafael National High School)
  • 2nd Place: Cathlyn Joy David (Children of Fatima School, Inc.)
  • 3rd Place: Lovely Syphryll Calonzo (College of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel)

4. Blog

  • 1st Place: Patricia Dela Cruz (HAU- School of Nursing and Allied Medical Profession)
  • 2nd Place: Denise Patricia Dimalanta (HAU- School of Arts and Sciences)
  • 3rd Place: Lance Jilaine Guido (HAU- School of Hospitality and Tourism Management)

5. Tiktok

  • 1st Place: Prince John Miranda (Systems Plus College Foundation)
  • 2nd Place: Redd Lorenn Quiambao (University of the Assumption)
  • 3rd Place: Christal Faye Duya (Pulung Santol National High School)

It was, once more, a productive endeavor. The School of Education shall continue its commitment to its advocacy of promoting peace.
