For the 10th year, the School of Education (SEd) joined the world in celebrating the International Day of Peace with the theme: “Recovering Better for a Sustainable and Equitable World”. A series of activities was organized by 2nd Year education students to uphold and continue SEd’s advocacy for real and lasting Peace.
The celebration kicked off with the celebration of the Sacrifice of the Mass with special intention last September 17, 2021. The highlight of the celebration was the Regional Peace Forum on September 24, which was participated in by 310 students and teachers from public and private schools in Region 3. The forum was graced by two interviewees from Myanmar— a student and a Roman Catholic priest who narrated their experiences on what is happening in their war-torn country. The main event of the forum was a talk on the theme of the celebration, delivered by Dr. Agustin Martin Rodriguez, a Professor of Philosophy from the Ateneo de Manila University and Guest Lecturer of the Holy Angel University, SEd-Graduate Program.
Aside from the regional forum, competitions were also held for students to participate in. The following were the competitions, with the names of the winners:
1. Paspas Dila (Spoken Poetry in Filipino)
2. Essay Writing Contest
3. Pagsulat ng Sanaysay
It was, once more, a productive endeavor. The School of Education shall continue its commitment to its advocacy of promoting peace.
