SNAMS Professors Present their Research in International Conferences

Three conferences served as platforms for the faculty members of the School of Nursing and Allied Medical Sciences to share their research undertakings to colleagues.

Representing the Department of Medical Technology, Asst. Prof. Jai Anthony F. Cuevas, MSHSA, RMT presented in a poster his research at the 1st International Congress on Collaborative Education and Research in Healthcare (ICCERHC) 2021. The University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Pharmacy hosted this congress last March 9-12, 2021 as part of its 150th founding anniversary as a degree-granting unit.

From the Department of Nursing, nine academics shared their research outputs in the 24th East Asian Forum of Nursing Scholars convened by UP Manila College of Nursing last April 15-16, 2021. The oral presenters were Prof. Al D. Biag, EdD, RN Asst. Prof. Leonardo S. Angeles Jr, PhD, RN; Asst. Prof. Vanessa L. Belen, PhD, RN; and Asst. Prof. Noriel P. Calaguas, MSHSA, RN. On the other hand, the poster presenters were Asst. Prof. Precious Jean M. Marquez, PhD, RN; Asst. Prof. Jose Henry T. Lansangan, PhD, RN; Asst. Prof. Louie Roy E. Catu, PhD, RN; Asst. Prof. Crisa M. Sarte, MSN, RN; and Asst. Prof. Leonor S. Lumanlan, MAN, RN.

The study of Dr. Angeles, Testing the structural equation model of the influence of nurses’ spiritual well-being and caring behaviour on their provision of spiritual care to patients, was adjudged as one of the 15 best from 75 papers presented orally. Holy Angel University is the single institution with the most number of research presenters (oral and poster) in this regional forum of higher education institutions from Hong Kong, Japan, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, and Taiwan.

Furthermore, Dr. Al D. Biag, Dr. Precious Jean M. Marquez, and Mr. Noriel P. Calaguas participated in as research presenters in the 29th Annual Nursing Research Day of the Sigma’s Lambda Delta Chapter held last April 16. The Lambda Delta is a recognized chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Sigma is the second largest professional nursing organization which ranks after the International Council of Nurses in terms of membership. The three faculty along with Dr. Elmer D. Bondoc and Dr. Jonathan D. Cura are regular Sigma members and inducted as affiliates to the Lambda Delta Chapter of Monmouth University in New Jersey.
