Holy Angel University’s School of Engineering and Architecture (SEA) held the 8th Program Advisory Council (PAC) Meeting for its Industrial Engineering (IE) Department on March 11, 2021 via Zoom.
The PAC was attended by IE’s faculty roster headed by IE Chairperson Engr. Edward P. Lacson, together with Engr. R-Jay Quiambao, Engr. Melani Cabrera, Engr. Ma. Elena Timbang, Engr. Edgardo Tulabut, Engr. Ruselle Manalang, and Engr. Peter John Gamboa. Council Industry representatives were from UPS Clark (Engr.Hazel Canilao), DOST Pampanga (Engr. Rizaline Santos), TBI (Engr. Garganta), and DMCI Home (Engr. Kenneth Samson). Engr. Dhon Dungca also attended the meeting as the Professional Organization Representative and the president of Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers (PIIE) – HAU Student Chapter, and Joshua Santos as the student representative.
The meeting started with a prayer led by the OBE facilitator, Engr. Nikolai Cayanan, followed by the presentation of Engr. Edward Lacson. Engr. Lacson presented the accomplishments of the IE program, curriculum, status update, concerns of the students, and the possible solutions for the concerns. Shortly after is the talk with the Industry Representatives where they discussed the skills are in demand these days in different industries, so that the professors may incorporate them to the courses of the students. They were also asked about the work condition on different industries during the pandemic since the internship of the 3rd year students is fast approaching.
The student representative, Santos raised concerns from the IE students and also suggested ways to make online class easier for the students. He also raised concerns about the internship of the 3rd year students. Lastly, the IE faculty shared their own experiences teaching online so that others may get insights and improve their teaching capabilities using the online class setup.
