My dear Basic Education parents and guardians:
Let me start by thanking you for entrusting to Holy Angel University your children’s online education in this time of the COVID-19 pandemic. You made a huge investment despite the financial difficulties, mental stress and other anxieties and uncertainties that we all face these days. For our part, we strove to be one of the region’s most prepared schools, which resulted in our opening ahead of most other schools. We did this to give your children a head start in their continuing education and not cause any more delays in your timetables.
Despite our best intentions and most diligent preparations, some of you experienced confusion and inconveniences such as missing sections, synchronous sessions that were longer than announced, and nervous instructors. Some of these problems are to be expected in any system that is transitioning from traditional to digital, while other problems may be attributed to plain human error or weakness, for which we offer our most sincere apologies. What is important is our faculty and administrators quickly addressed these issues on opening day itself and as of this week, everything—or nearly everything—is functioning as it should. And as an expression of goodwill, the Principal, her faculty and fellow administrators have promised to double their efforts to provide your children the best online education and most meaningful online experience this school year.
Lastly, I would like to thank those who made an effort to give us their feedback. I encourage you to continue doing so in the same spirit of cooperation that has defined our partnership and illuminated our University Mission. Fully online education offers an exciting new world of possibilities that we can and will explore together. This is our invitation to you and your challenge to us.
May the Holy Guardian Angel always keep you and your loved ones healthy and safe.
Laus Deo Semper!
Luis María R. Calingo, Ph.D.
