Holy Angel University (HAU) was given the most coveted award by organizations in the Luzon Region – the 2019 Employer of the Year Award (EOY) by the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP), during the 2nd PMAP Luzon Regional Awards Ceremony, as part of the 13th PMAP Luzon Summit, held at the Vista Taal Hotel in Tagaytay City on May 2, 2019. HAU was among the 67 nominated organizations that vied for the prestigious EOY recognition in Luzon. From 67, a total of 25 organizations were shortlisted for site visits, which trimmed the list down to five nominees. Finally, HAU was among the two announced finalists for the EOY Award for Luzon.
In his acceptance speech, University President Dr. Luis Ma. R. Calingo thanked the university community and narrated the transition of the university from the 52-day strike in 2013 and how it has been since then. “Paraphrasing Charles Dickens, over the past six years, Holy Angel University has moved from the age of foolishness to the age of wisdom, from the season of darkness to the season of light, and from the winter of despair to the spring of hope. This evening’s recognition from the experts of people management is the most significant external validation of our success in meeting one of our four strategic objectives – to be a great university to work for.” As a finalist for the Regional EOY Awards, Dr. Calingo was also able to share HAU’s best practices to the audience composed of Human Resources practitioners, officers and administrators of various organizations from different parts of Luzon. As the EOY for Luzon, HAU will compete with the three Regional EOY recipients from Visayas, Mindanao, and the National Capital Region for the national award, which will be announced in July 2019.
