College of Information and Communications Technology (CICT) students under the Network Administration program donated their invented "Internet of Things (IoT) Real Time Facial Recognition for Entrance Authentication with Logging System" to the Angeles City Senior High School (ACSHS) on April 26, 2019. ACSHS Principal Ms. Hilda Narciso Garcia and the IT Chairperson Mrs. Jeniffer Tayag received the donation.
The donated program is a thesis project that integrates Raspberry Pi 3 IoT device with a camera implementing facial recognition. Its main function is facial recognition of students for logging in and logging out of the school with SMS text to the parent or guardian, which allows them to know whether their children are in the school premises or not.
The IoT device is a thesis project of the Network Admin student composed of Yalung, Aaron Angeles Castro, Nikko Merlin, Michael Angelo Canales, Trisha May Canales, and Rica Mae Pangilinan of the College of Information, Communication, and Technology (CICT) department.
The student group, with the help of their adviser and as part of the CICT department's adopt-a-school program, selected ACSHS as the locale where the device will be tested, with an agreement when it was finished, it will be deployed at ACSHS for the monitoring of the students.
