Holy Angel University’s School of Business Accountancy (SBA) co-hosted the 2nd Infinity International Business Research Conference (IIBRC) 2019 at the Udayana University in Bali, Indonesia, with Udayana University’s Faculty of Economics and Business. This year’s conference was themed “Entrepreneurship in Asia: Research Collaboration Across Nations.” The conference topics included Accounting and Finance, Business and Economics, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and Best Practices in Business and Management. The conference was held at Aula Gedung Doktor, Fakultas Ekonomi dan Bisnis, Unud, Kampus Sudirman last March 11 – 13, 2019.
The pre-conference was held on the first day last March 11, 2019 where Prof. Dr. Akhmad Fauzi of Bogor Agricultural University shared his expertise on Prospective Analysis using MICMAC and MACTOR, as techniques to aid in the preparation of a strategic management plan. It was a whole day discussion well attended by various Professors from different universities in Indonesia, and five representatives from HAU.
A total of 189 faculty members, administrators, guests and students from various local and international universities attended the conference proper on March 12 to 13. The conference opened with a Welcome Remarks from the Udayana University Vice Rector for International Relation and Information, Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Wyasa Putra, SH., M. Hum, followed by an Opening Remarks by Dr. Carmelita Lao, the IIBRC 2019 Chairperson. There were four Plenary speakers on the first day, one Keynote speech from HAU President Dr. Luis Maria R. Calingo and three Plenary discussions by Dr. Peter Joseph Nepomuceno, Proprietor of Borda De Oro; Dr. Mia Torres Dela Cruz, an Assistant Professor from Kolej Universiti Linton in Malaysia and I Gusti Putu Bagus Sasrawan Mananda from Udayana University.
In the afternoon, three parallel sessions were held simultaneously with the research strands namely Sustainability Practices in Business, Hospitality and Marketing, Academics in Business, Interdisciplinary Studies, Economics and Accounting and Taxation. These parallel sessions were well attended by both faculty and students from various local and international universities.
The evening of the first day was a Welcome Dinner for foreign participants hosted by the Governor of Bali. Sumptuous meals and an evening of Balinese cultural dances were the highlights of the dinner.
Four Plenary sessions were conducted on the second day. The speakers were Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suartana, Udayana University; Dr. Debbie Christine, Widyatama University; Dr. Angelito Calma, University of Melbourne; and Prof. Byron Siy, General Manager of TSB Realty. The last Plenary session was a discussion about the Internationalization Opportunities/Partnership with HAU.
The afternoon of March 7 was also filled with parallel sessions with research tracks on: Human Resource Management, Digital and Economic Trends, Operations and Marketing Research. The closing ceremony was held in the Plenary session hall. Evaluation of the conference was done immediately after with Udayana counterparts.
Aside from HAU, the following universities sent faculty and student participants to the 2nd IIBRC: Mabalacat City College, Tarlac State University, Central Luzon State University, Wesleyan University of the Philippines, St. Paul University-Philippines, Colegio de San Juan de Letran, Technological Institute of the Philippines, Taguig City University, and Udayana University. All participants came from Malaysia, Australia, USA, Indonesia and Philippines.
A total of 38 papers were presented in the conference, 17 of which were from HAU.
In addition, various organizations and individuals donated cash sponsorship to IIBRC. Likewise, Udayana University students voluntarily assisted the SBA faculty and staff throughout the duration of the conference.
