Holy Angel University marked the 100th wedding anniversary of HAU founder Juan D. Nepomuceno and Teresa G. Nepomuceno with a mass wedding for some of its employees and maintenance staff at the Holy Rosary Parish Church and a Holy Mass at the HAU Chapel of the Holy Guardian Angel, presided by Archbishop-Emeritus Paciano Aniceto. HAU President Dr. Luis Maria Calingo delivered a message followed by a response from the Nepomuceno Family given by Dr. Peter J. Nepomuceno.
The mass wedding, a part of the University's family welfare, was co-sponsored by the Campus Ministry Office (which took care of flowers and gift certificates for the newlyweds), the Human Resource Office (which provided all suits and wedding dresses courtesy of couturier Rich Sabinian), the School of Hospitality Management (which prepared the wedding cakes), the Office of Community Extension Services (which sponsored the cords, veils and meals), Office of Student Affairs (which provided the events organizers, namely, William Banal and team), Marketing Office (which took care of the photos and video coverage), Motorpool Office (which provided transportation), and the Laboratory Elementary School which provided pupils costumed as angels for the wedding march.
HAU Chaplain Fr. Jayson Miranda and guest priest Fr. Howell Suarez (an HAU alumnus) concelebrated the Mass with the Archbishop-Emeritus.
The newlywed couples are: Mr. & Mrs. Joerun and Criselda Mercado, Mr. & Mrs. Jayson and Marnelli Valencia, Mr. & Mrs. Edward and Bangielyn Gacutan, Mr. & Mrs. Rigo and Jocelyn Montemayor, and Mr. & Mrs. Leonardo and Arlyn Ramos.
The Nepomuceno Family also formally opened an exhibit on the life and legacy of Juan and Teresa Nepomuceno and the pioneer HAU students Javier Nepomuceno and Francisca Villanueva, both curated by Alex Castro of the Center for Kapampangan Studies.
In a videotaped performance shown during the reception, Leo Valdes, Don Juan's grandson and director of the University's International Affairs Office, impersonated his grandfather giving a message in Kapampangan.
"The Nepomuceno Family would like to thank the University for marking the centenary of Don Juan and Dona Teresa's wedding with a celebration of the sacrament of matrimony," Dr. Peter Nepomuceno said in an interview after the ceremonies.
