The School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (SHTM) held its bi-annual Program Advisory Council (PAC) meeting last February 21, 2019 at the University’s Café Juan. The PAC’s main objective is to align the initiatives of SHTM to the needs of the industry, as well as to bridge the gap between the capabilities of graduates and what employers actually requires. The meeting was attended by Dr. Regina Cura of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Ms. Gilda Padua, managing director of Ties That Travel, Mr. Srdan Todorovich of RLX Business Solutions, Ms. Kathrina Preciosa Paras of Widus Hotel & Casino, Mr. Jakeson Quiatchon of Azzurro Hotel, Dr. Oliver Paul Wilson Chan, CEO of Madison 101 Hotel + Tower, Ms. Chriselle May Yambao of the Department of Tourism (DOT), Ms. Lerma Quiambao of the Pampanga Agents Travel Society (PATS), Ms. Jocelyn Fabia of Alliance of Travel and Tour Agencies of Pampanga (ATTAP), Ms. Aurora Agustin of Amega Travel and Tours, and Ms. Ma. Nadja Dizon of Global Access Travel & Tours. The PAC meeting started with the welcome remarks of the VP for Academic Affairs, Dr. Alma S. Espartinez, followed by a presentation of SHTM updates and future directions by the SHTM Dean, Dr. Tyron W. Yap.
Proposed research topics were then discussed with the council by SHTM faculty members. The meeting was concluded with sumptuous lunch prepared by SHTM students, headed by Chef Amel Jocson and Chef Arnel Kann Santos.
