CCJEF holds ‘drug awareness and prevention’ seminar for SHS studes

January 24, 2019

A symposium on “Drug Awareness and Prevention towards Drug Free Community” was organized by the College of Criminal Justice Education and Forensics (CCJEF) on January 15, 2019 at the University Theatre.

One of the objectives of the said symposium is to intensify the awareness of Senior High School Students on various kinds of illegal drugs, its adverse effects to the human health, the reasons why people resort to drug use, and how to deal with it.

Atty. Rina Diaz-Samson from the Public Attorney’s Office discussed the Republic Act 9165 or otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and other pertinent laws related to dangerous drugs; while Mr. Glenn Guillermo, Chief Public Information Officer of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region III provided the information on the different kinds of drugs, including the mandate and programs of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) to fight illegal drugs.

Deputy City Director for Administration of Angeles City Police Office (ACPO), PSupt. Nixon M. Cayaban and PSInsp. Elaine S. Villasis shared the programs and activities of the Philippine National Police to fight illegal drugs.

Participants of the event were composed of students from different senior high schools in Angeles City. “This symposium is timely and important because the youth today are facing many influences to utilize dangerous drugs. This event can play a counterbalancing role in shaping a normative culture of safety, moderation, and informed decision-making.” says CCJEF Dean Dr. Niño M. Kabiling.
