HAU Conducts Business English Course for Viskase Asia Pacific Corporation Employees

Thirteen technical and supervisory employees of Viskase Asia Pacific Corporation (VAPC) in Clark Freeport Zone completed the 48-hour English in the Workplace course conducted by the Office of International Affairs and Alumni Relations of Holy Angel University from September 9, 2013 to December 13, 2013 at the VAPC Training Room.

The University created and conducted the programupon invitation by VAPC for the University to administer a course that will enhance the English language skills of VAPC employees as part of the company’s personnel training and development initiatives.

In closing ceremonies held at the VAPC Training Room on December 13, 2013, Ms. Maricel Muzones, VAPC HR and Administration Manager, congratulated the employees for the efforts and dedication which they showed in order to finish the course.

Ms. Muzones, together with Engr. Joselito Go, VAPC Plant Manager, presented the Certificate of Completion to each of the pioneer graduates of the Business English course.

Mr. Ronaldo Lapis, Head, Office of International Affairs and Alumni Relations of HAU, thanked VAPC for the opportunity which the company gave the University to be a partner in VAPC’s people development program.

Ms. Jeaneth Dolor received the Most Outstanding Student Award and shared the Best Speaker Award with Mr. Robert Campos. The Best Group Presentation Award went to Messrs.Edwin P. Pamintuan, Dante DM. Reyes, and Ricarte F. Marimla.

The course marked several firsts for the University: It was the first English for a Specific Purpose course conducted by the University; the first program equivalent to a semester’s coursework that was administered outside of the campus in its entirety; and the first that utilized team teaching for the English Language program.

Ms. Remy Yumul and Mr. Garry May, ESL faculty, handled the course.
