Seminar-Workshop on "Library and Web 2010 for Readers, Technical and Archives Services"

To the Officers and Members of the Philippine Association of Academic & Research Librarians (every Librarians Association), Guest Speakers, Fellow Workers in the Field of Education, Friends, Ladies and Gentlemen:

I would like to extend my warmest welcome to all of you. It is an honor and a privilege for us to host this seminar-workshop of the Philippine Association of Academic and Research Librarians, Inc. I understand and appreciate the relevance of the theme of your seminar-workshop, "LIBRARY AND WEB 2011 FOR READERS, TECHNICAL & ARCHIVES SERVICES" to the rapid and expanding role of libraries as the heart and center of learning of an educational institution like Holy Angel University.

Holy Angel University was founded in 1933 with the primary purpose of offering secondary Catholic education. It was organized as a non-stock, non-profit corporation oriented toward service to the community. This is very much reflected in the mission and vision of Holy Angel University which states among other things Christ-oriented values, professional competence, leadership and social responsibility. As the years passed by, the University blossomed into a Center of Development with a LEVEL III PAASCU accreditation. It is, therefore, no wonder that I welcome wholeheartedly pedagogical undertakings most especially those that can enhance the passion for excellence like the aforementioned library seminar-workshop which evolve around the following objectives, stated briefly, they include:

• To provide leadership through libraries as media centers;
• To explore intensely public and private collaboration;
• To alter policies and procedures to meet changing needs; and
• To ensure online and deliverable library services.

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you all at Holy Angel University. May your two-day stay here be productive and pleasant. My warmest congratulations to the Philippine Association of Academic & Research Librarians and the HAU Library Department for organizing and spearheading this affair.

Laus Deo semper!
