Holy Angel University was nominated as one of the top schools in the country in the recently-concluded Philippine Student Quill. HAU is at par with the universities like University of the Philippines and University of Sto. Tomas.

The top school is chosen based on the merit of excellence award received by students who sent their entries for the competition. This year, Communication Arts students won 4 major Awards in the Philippine Student Quill 2013.

2nd Philippine Student Quill Awards honors excellence in communication in the undergraduate levels. It gathers the best works of students nationwide which they produced for their class, for a club, a volunteer association, an internship, and other non-commercial activities in a student capacity. Entries are evaluated using professional industry standards.

There were two outputs submitted for the Quill. One is the advocacy campaign IVOTE which promotes responsible and conscientious voting. This entry was the work of Kelvin Aguilar, a 4th year Broadcast Journalism student.

The other was a documentary entitled “Tune Lugud”. This work deals with how true love transcends physical defects. It is the story of a married couple who were deaf yet manage to keep their relationship work. This output was created by the 4th year Advertising students through the leadership of Marcelo Lacap III.

This is the 2nd time that Comm students made a name for the Quill awards. Last year, Kelvin Aguilar won as well for his documentary Yagit.

The awards night was held last November 11, 2013 at the Crowne Plaza.
