A new tradition is born at Holy Angel: "Convocatio et Invocatio," where the University President symbolically welcomes freshmen who knock at the University Gate at the start of the school year. The Registrar asks them, "What do you seek?" and they take turns giving their answers, which correspond to the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit. The President then replies that the Catholic education they get from Holy Angel will give them the answers they are looking for. Everyone then proceeds to the University Chapel for the Misa de Apertura, or Mass of the Holy Spirit, presided by the Archbishop of San Fernando.

Convocation (Latin 'calling together',) is a group of people formally assembled for a special purpose. Invocation (Latin verb invocare "to call on, invoke, to give") a calling upon for authority or justification
