News and Events

My dear graduating students, ladies and gentlemen:

Good morning.

There could be no better way to end your schooling than to thank our Lord God Almighty for sustaining you through graduation day. It was only by His grace that you have reached this far; it will only be by His grace that you will prevail in the next chapters of your lives. Words of thanks may not be enough to show how grateful we are, and how much we love the Lord.

St. Paul, in his first letter to the Corinthians, described to us what genuine love is. He said, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

As you embark on your respective careers, may you be guided by this call for Christian love. In a world made ugly by human selfishness and pride, love is the key to unlock the beauty that is veiled. To light one little candle is better than to curse the darkness, and to do something good, more meaningful than being reduced to apathy and inaction. Strive to be the light that illumines others and the salt that preserves the gladness of the human spirit.

As graduates of Holy Angel, your alma mater will always be honored by the success that you will attain in your jobs, as well as by the type of values that you will espouse as individuals and as members of the larger society. We trust that you will be competent in the practice of your profession, and we pray that you will be men and women for others ─ just, fair, honest, conscientious, industrious, dynamic, peaceable, and most of all, God-fearing.

One with the school administrators, faculty and non-teaching personnel of this University, I congratulate you and your parents on the occasion of your graduation and may the school motto, Laus Deo semper, be always a reality for you now and in your whole life through.

Thank you.
