LES celebrates Mass of the Holy Spirit

This year’s Mass of the Holy Spirit was celebrated on June 22, 2012 at the Chapel of the Holy Guardian Angel with Father Jobert M. Villacorte, the university chaplain, as the officiating priest.

As a tradition, this special Mass is celebrated annually by the university. It is often observed during the beginning of every school year. This Mass is our way of giving thanks to the Holy Spirit. We ask the Holy Spirit to help and enlighten us in everything we do. Teachers and students alike ask for more inspiration and guidance for the current academic year.

In this Mass, we recall the gifts given to us by the Holy Spirit. This includes piety, wisdom, understanding, fortitude, fear of the Lord, knowledge, and counsel. During the Prayers of the Faithful, the lectors gave the meaning of each gift. At the end of the celebration, all pupils were given small cards in which each spiritual gift was written. The pupils then can reflect on those gifts and be inspired to use them for the greater glory of God.
