18th Grand Alumni Homecoming

HAU alumni gathered together once again for their annual homecoming 30 December 2009 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Gymnasium. With High School Batch 84 (Querubins) as the host batch, the affair was graced by around one thousand alumni from batch 48 (the oldest batch-attendees) to batch 89, this year’s youngest batch-attendees.

The University President, Dr. Arlyn Sicangco-Villanueva, likewise graced the occasion with her message enjoining everyone to partake in the developmental projects of the University. She also gave an account of the significant accomplishments the University has achieved during its diamond jubilee celebration.

During the event, guests were treated to a grand presentation of dancing, singing and awarding of prizes on which all the gifts were donated by the Querubins both here and abroad. Recognitions were aptly presented to the Golden Jubilarians, Batch 1959 (The Pioneers), headed by their President, Mrs. Fredeswinda Bauzon. Mrs. Teresita Wilkerson and Sr. Josefina Nepomuceno were added to the list of distinguished alumni as they received their Outstanding Alumni awards.

It was in the same occasion where the winners of the Alumni Association’s fund raising activity dubbed as “Van Pa-Raffle for a Cause” were drawn.

The affair was concluded by the turning over of Ms. Teresa Mamac, Batch 84 President, of the key of responsibility to Roland Buan of Batch 85, next year’s grand alumni homecoming host batch as they celebrate their 25th high school graduation anniversary.

From a mere handful of volunteers to a count of more than 300 Querubins who attended the event, the affair can be described a resounding success. With this, their heartfelt appreciation and thanks go to all those who helped.
