HAU Hosts the Cisco Student Congress 2011

HAU played hosts to the participants and guests of the 4th Cisco Student Congress held last March 18, 2011 at the University Theater. One thousand students from Cisco Academies all over the Philippines participated in this one-day event which is sponsored annually by the Cisco Core Council of the Philippines and the Cisco QA Academy in the Philippines (De La Salle University).

This year’s congress emphasized the impact of Cisco NetAcad students in society.Dr. Arlyn S. Villanueva, HAU President and Dr. Jaime V. Cortez, AVP for Academic Affairs led the opening ceremonies. During the event, Mr. Noel Kimuell, Cisco Area Academy Manager Philippines handed to the University President the plaque of recognition which was awarded to HAU for its outstanding contribution to the Cisco Networking Academy Program during the recent Cisco Asia Pacific Council Workshop held last March 2011 in Sydney, Australia.

Cisco Systems Engineers were invited to talk onadvanced internetworking technologies. Selected studentsfrom AMA Computer University, De La Salle University, Holy Angel University and the University of Sto. Tomas shared their success stories about NetAcad, CCNA certification, job search and establishment of the Cisco Student Organization in their respective academies. One of the highlights of the event was the recognition of new CCNA examination passers within the academic year, i.e., June 1, 2010. A session on soft skills training was held in the afternoon. To complete the fun, the Council chose from the attendees, the Cisco Student Ambassador and Ambassadress who each won trips to Boracay. Ms. Maria Teresa S. Salta and Ms. Rasel H. Dela Cruz, Cisco Council members were also awarded certificates of appreciation for their invaluable support to the Congress.
