APL. DE AP visit

To Apl de Ap and party, our partners from PhilDev and Ayala Foundation, dear students, friends, good morning.

It is truly inspiring to see persons who as they spread their wings do not also forget to look back to their roots. This is what I think can best describe our guest – Allan Pineda or as he is known by his fans. I am happy for this homecoming of Allan both in Sapangbato and here at Holy Angel where he once studied. We know that in spite of the success of Allan as an international star, his pride of being a Filipino is always there. This, he expresses with his projects that aim to give back to communities and children within the Philippines and throughout Asia.

This is also manifested in his incorporation of that Filipino touch and culture into his songs, his collaborative works with other Filipino artists, his being available to share his talent to promote our country, and his being one with us in special events such as the recently concluded EDSA People Power Anniversary.

Another proof of his commitment to help our young people is the very reason we are here today--the blessing of the Music Studio and Library at Holy Angel University and of the Library, Computer Room, and Music Room at Sapangbato National High School, made possible in partnership with PHILDEV, AFI, DepEd, and HAU. The establishment of these facilities is aimed at discovering and nurturing the musical talents among our youth who do not have the means to be trained in music schools. The Project also aims to provide these children free access to musical instruments which they cannot afford to buy on their own. Initially, Holy Angel University will offer a classroom-sized facility for this project, and eventually, expansion will be worked out based on the outcome.

It is likewise envisioned that this project shall serve as an instrument for these less fortunate young people to reach their dreams.

To the young people present here with us, I challenge you to persevere, work hard, aspire to be excellent and soar high. And as you take your journey towards that path, be rooted in the values of humility, integrity and service to others. May your love for your family be also your love for your community and your country. It is my fervent hope that as you succeed, may your values move you to share your wings to others so that they too, can fly.

I would like to end this message with the words of Luciano de Crescenzo, “We are each of us Angels with only one wing, and we can only fly by embracing one another.”

Again, good morning. Laus Deo Semper!
