CEA celebrates the National Architecture Week

On 1-3 December 2010, the CEA Architecture Department joined the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) Area A2B in the celebration of the National Architecture Week. Various activities have been held depicting the theme "Pop Architecture: Reinventing Architecture for the Next Generation".

In the 1st day, Arch. Brian John P. Mangio, uap, Director of N. Mangio and Associates and Arch. Ana S. Magalino-Ling, fuap apec asia J. Ling and Associates talked about "Who is the Next Generation Architect” and “Project: Architect", respectively. Arch. Manuel D. C. Noche, uap of UST shared his unique ideas about "Pop Architecture".

On the last day, Arch. Francis Frigillana, Arch. Jose Juco, Arch. Arnel M. Agustin, and Arch. Ariel Austria, shared their respective experiences and technical know-how in putting up an architectural firm.

Students from different schools in the region participated in the Design Competition which was facilitated by Architects from Bulacan State University. Delegates from the following schools emerged as winners: Tarlac State University (1st place); Holy Angel University (2nd place) and Don Honorio Ventura Technical State University (3rd place).

This year’s celebration has been made more meaningful with the partnership forged between HAU and the Don Pepe Henson Enterprises. The latter plans to relocate Pampang Market to another location in the nearby vicinity. HAU Architecture students have been tapped to design the proposed structure. This gave the students the opportunity to participate in the design of the future look of the City, in general. The winners, likewise, received P 30,000 tuition subsidy, P 20,000, and P 10,000, for the designs chosen as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, respectively.
