HAU Enactus Team bags accolade in Animo Labs Green Archer Innovation Awards 2019

The Holy Angel University Enactus Team was chosen as the winner for the Categories 2 (Health, Well-Being, and Demography) and 3 (Energy Decarbonization and Sustainable Industry) of the Animo Labs Green Archer Innovation Awards 2019, through an email announcement from the De La Salle University (DLSU) Animo Labs Technology Business Incubator.

The first winning entry under the Category 3 submitted by HAU students, namely Paul Ernest Carreon, Anchelza Nicole Sia, and Jacques Dyane David, is entitled "Processed Engineered Fuel Micro Production System". This innovative project aims to produce a micro production system of Processed Engineered Fuel in the Philippines patterned on the implementation of the Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000. This distributes production on Local Barangay Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) by providing Processed Engineered Fuel (PEF) Processing Units, which involves MRF-rejected waste shredding process and drying process up to its delivery in its main headquarters for sales.

The second winning entry under the Category 2 was submitted by Heinrich Allen Tulan, Trina Sevilla, and John Vincent Macabanti. Their innovation called “Blind and Deaf AR-Based Assistive Device” enables the deaf to hear and blind to see through image and text-to-speech conversions using eyeglasses. This is done by converting sound into images that will be displayed on eyeglass lenses. The deaf will be able to hear through subtitles using their eyes. The blind will be able to read through the glasses’ image and text recognition, being converted into speech by the glasses' Artificial Intelligence system.

The HAU Enactus Team was mentored by officers from the HAU Encephalon Office.

As the category winner, the team will compete in the final pitch on November 21 at the DLSU Innovation and Technology (DITECH) Fair 2019 in DLSU, Manila, for a chance to win P20,000.00.
