HAU launches Technology Business Incubator Encephalon

Despite the nationwide transport strike, Encephalon, the Technology Business Incubator (TBI) of Holy Angel University was officially introduced during its grand launching entitled “PamiHAUbe Abe: PH Startup Ecosystem – Beyond Expectations” last September 30 at the HAU Theater. The event was attended by different government institutions, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and corporations and universities in Pampanga. HAU administrators, faculty and students also showed their support during the activation despite the unavailability of public utility jeepneys.


The event started with the keynote address of University President Dr. Luis Maria R. Calingo, where he highlighted the vision of the university: to become a role model catalyst for countryside development, one incubatee at a time. The Chief of Research Innovation and Technology Transfer Division (RITTD) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) – Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD), Russell Pili, addressed the crowd by sharing DOST’s vision of building the Philippine Startup Ecosystem and its #RoadTo1000Startups program. The plenary session began as the principal author of the Innovative Startup Act, Former Senator Bam Aquino discussed the Philippine Startup Ecosystem. He ended his talk with the phrases: “YOU DO NOTE. You are a problem solver. Do not be afraid to fail or to commit mistakes. Note that you are never alone in this journey.”


Germaine Reyes, the CEO of Synergy Market Research + Strategic Consultancy shared that for a business to thrive in the Industry 4.0, Sustainability is the future. The third speaker is the visionary CEO and Founder of OrangeApps, Gian Scottie Javelona who believes that the best way to boost the Philippine Startup Ecosystem is to transform a simple town into an innovation space which creates the best products and services coming from the Philippines to the world. The CEO and creator of Sustainable Alternative Lighting (SALt), Aisa Mijeno, shared that her best learning during her startup years, the most important capital of all, is that you should invest in your people. The plenary session was concluded as the Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness, Edna Marriza Santos, showed the university’s full support to researchers and innovators as they will be hand-held from conceptualization to commercialization. It was immediately concluded with the Encephalon’s ribbon cutting ceremony and signing of Memorandum of Understanding with Encephalon HAU-TBI’s partner institutions.


In the afternoon, some of Encephalon’s Incubatees: Papa.ph, Keybol Games and domo presented their pitches during the business pitch-in sessions.
