ICSFI-CLE conducts Spiritual Encounter Forum

Theology 103 classes had the opportunity to engage 258 resource persons from various sectors for the classroom-based Spiritual Encounter Forum (SEF) program. Cancer survivors, priests, nuns, married men and women, alumni, administrators, church lay workers among others served as speakers in the spiritual sessions touching on six different topics. The students spent six weeks organizing the SEF sessions for their respective classes. The said activity started on August 29 and will continue until October 4, 2019. True to the very essence of the course which is all about Spirituality in the Contemporary World, the forum is the Institute for Christian Formation & Social Integration - Christian Living Education (ICSFI-CLE) Department’s way of getting all sectors involved in the spiritual formation of the students.

A total of 43 sections from the School of Education, the School of Nursing and Allied Medical Sciences, the School of Business and Accountancy, and the School of Arts and Sciences organized the sessions. The SEF line-up of topics include: Spiritual Exercise through Prayer, Silence, and Meditation (SEF 1); Spirituality of the Human Body and Relationships (SEF 2); Spirituality in the Family: Its Implication to Development of Values and Character (SEF 3); Social Media in the Formation of the Spirituality of the Modern Youth (SEF 4); The Saints and Way to Holiness (SEF 5); and A Communal Encounter with God through Recollection, Taize, Bible Study, Yoga, and Meditation (SEF 6).

The activity is also in solidarity of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) celebration for the Year of the Youth with its theme “Filipino Youth in Mission: Beloved, Gifted, Empowered”.
