JPN Exchange Students Visit HAU

Exchange students from various schools and universities in Japan were welcomed to the Holy Angel University (HAU) last August 30, 2019 at San Francisco de Javier (SFJ) building by the Communicators’ League, the official student organization of the BA Communication Program.

In partnership with HAU’s Office of International Affairs and the School of Arts and Sciences, the Communicators’ League conducted the annual tour with welcoming festivities and immersion activities to accommodate the university’s foreign guests.

In order to welcome the Japanese exchange students, a series of ice breakers and games were conducted. Pairing a 2:1 ratio of students to officers of the organization, all participants joined the game to develop rapport with one another. The Communicators’ League prides itself in having taken the lead to pursue breaking barriers and building relationships beyond language and beyond borders.

Gathering at the SFJ Multi Purpose Hall, officers, executive staff and volunteers from the communication program welcomed the Japanese students with several games to jumpstart the 30-minute long session. Kicking off the program with getting-to-know games, officers were tasked to oversee the introductory session as Japanese students engaged in conversation with their assigned officers.

Considered a gem, the Bachelor of Arts in Communications Program boasts two studios that serve as proper training grounds for communication arts students. The foreign exchange students were taken to the Broadcasting Studio and the Angel Network 97.5: Always by Your Side radio station.

For the last leg of the immersion tour, the Japanese students were given the opportunity to engross themselves in the field of future media practitioners as they gave a hand at handling professional-grade cameras, tried on-camera reporting and television-radio hosting. Guests were also exposed to the different areas of technical work that transpires in broadcasting media.
