PSM Cybersecurity students hold back-to-back conferences

Two conferences simultaneously held in the university were spearheaded by Graduate School students of the Professional Science Master’s in Cybersecurity program on July 13, 2019. Speakers from Holy Angel University and National Privacy Commission (NPC) joined hands in making an informative conference that will teach the non-teaching employees and faculty members on how to be resilient in the disrupting digital world.

"Understanding Cybersecurity and Your Role" was a cybersecurity seminar intended for faculty members held at PGN 505. The program discussed how cybersecurity and cyber resilience work hand in hand, how attackers can exploit the internet connected home devices, and data privacy issues that most people take for granted. The conference featured Dr. Marlon Tayag, Professor from the College of Information and Communications Technology (CICT) on "Cybersecurity: Security on Internet of Things"; Ms. Aileen Jade Gamboa, Complaints & Investigation Division of NPC on "Data Privacy: Building a culture of privacy in the institution"; and Dr. Francisco Napalit, CICT Dean on "Cyber Resilience: Security of Data, Applications and Processes".

The 1st HAU Data Privacy Conference, on the other hand, discussed data privacy issues on collecting and processing personal data, legal obligations as a personal information controller, and being prepared in case of data breaches. It featured Atty. Michael Santos, Chief of Staff of the Deputy Privacy Commissioner of NPC on "Overview of the Data Privacy Act of 2012"; Atty. Numeriano Hernandez Jr., Executive Assistant of the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of NPC on "How to comply with the Data Privacy Act of 2012"; and Mr. Rayjl Muleta, Information Technology Officer of the Complaints and Investigation Division of NPC on "Breach Notification and Procedure". The conference was attended by the non-teaching personnel at PGN 605.

The PSM in Cybersecurity students were under the supervision of their Project Management professor Dr. Ma. Lina Ramoneda and Dr. Napalit.
