HAU’s ‘Encephalon’ TBI operates full blast this May

The Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD) and the University of the Philippines, through the National Engineering Center, launched the Higher Education Institution Readiness for Innovation and Technopreneurship (HeIRIT) Program, a 12-month preparatory program for starting Technology Business Incubators (TBIs). TBI involves an ecosystem where innovation is promoted and supported towards commercialization. It aims to help startup technology-based businesses by providing a range of resources, services and facilities needed during the development stage. The goal of TBI is to produce firms that will leave the incubation program financially viable and able to sustain operation and compete in the market.


Holy Angel University believes that the creation of “Encephalon”, HAU’s Technology Business Incubator, is a way to achieve the university’s 2nd strategic objective: To become an instrument for countryside development. With Encephalon’s vision of becoming the premier technology business incubator servicing technopreneurs geared towards countryside development in Central Luzon, Philippines and beyond is aligned to the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-PCIEERD’s goal of establishing 1,000 startups in the next five years through replication of startup communities in the regions.


This May 2019, After the 12-month preparatory program, HAU Encephalon operates full blast and is ready to serve startup businesses of students, entrepreneurs and technopreneurs across the region from all walks of life. Encephalon is located at the university’s Ground Floor, Paseo De Amor Building (Red Building).


HAU is one of the 22 higher education institutions which have been granted funding by the DOST-PCIEERD HeIRIT Program. The pioneer attendees of the 12-month preparatory program are Dr. Feliciano S. Caluyo, Dr. Caroline M. Acosta, Engr. Melani B. Cabrera, Mr. Rio G. Yutuc and Engr. Gina S. Tumang.
