ARO holds research agenda workshop

In line with its thrust to strengthen the research culture at Holy Angel University (HAU), the Academic Research Office (ARO) recently organized the “HAU Research Agenda-Setting Workshop” which reviewed the status of research in the University and the strategies on research capacity development.

HAU President Dr. Luis Maria R. Calingo set the tone of the one-day event during his address before the workshop participants composed of administrators and members of various sectors of the academic community. Providing the context with which research is to be viewed, instituted, and undertaken, Dr. Calingo cited societal needs, the school’s identity as a Catholic university, and HAU’s vision, mission, goals, and objectives as the foremost guideposts which the forum participants should consider.

To help the participants with their outputs, ARO Director Dr. Ruby Pineda-Henson presented the state of research at HAU while Vice-President for Academic Affairs Dr. Alma S. Espartinez discussed the teaching-research nexus in the academic programs.

The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Raymund B. Habaradas, Director of the Center for Business Research and Development of the De La Salle University (DLSU), who also shared the DLSU experience in building its own research culture.

Held on March 20, 2019 at the SFJ Multi-Purpose Hall, the workshop participants analyzed research at HAU using organization theory and discussed the building blocks in nurturing a culture towards a truly relevant research agenda.

The workshop concluded with the submission of recommendations by the participants for accelerating research and innovation in the University.
