HS Class of ’69 (Frontliners) marks golden anniversary

Last February 15 and 16, 2019, the High School class of ’69 (Frontliners) from the Philippines and abroad successfully celebrated their Golden Anniversary at Holy Angel University.


The two-day reunion celebration with Hawaiian party theme started on February 15 with a motorcade and a thanksgiving mass at the Chapel of the Holy Guardian Angel presided by Rev. Fr. Jayson B. Miranda concelebrated by their batchmate, Rev. Fr. Gerry Evarola from Antipolo City. The motorcade and mass were attended by 167 batch members.


A total of 212 batch members including some of their spouses attended the second day gathering at Plaza San Jose, DJDN building, formerly the main building.


Mr. Rudy De Leon, the batch ’69 US-based coordinator gave the welcome address followed by their tribute to their departed batchmates while singing the song “Have I told You Lately” by Rod Stewart. Right after the welcome address, the “Outsider Band ‘69” composed of the batch ’69 members sung their batch song “Yesterday Once More” by the Carpenters.


HAU University President Dr. Luis Maria R. Calingo graced the event and updated the batch on the developments of HAU for the past 50 years. Dr. Calingo made special mention to one of their batchmates Dr. Victor Zapanta because of his philanthropy for the past 14 years through his participation to the scholarship program of HAU. Right after the speech of Dr. Calingo, the officers of batch ’69 presented their donation for the Share-a-Wing and Share-a-Meal projects of the university.


Dr. Oscar Aurelio, the batch president delivered his message and thanked all the officers, organizing committee and the batch members for participating and supporting their batch 50th anniversary’s success.


The batch also paid tribute to their mentors who graced the event: Mrs. Fredeswinda N. Bauzon, Mrs. Erlinda E. Cruz, Mrs. Elena O. Magat and Mrs. Lydia F. Payoyo.


The reunion was filled with song and dance presentations from the members of the batch. HAU values the importance of its alumni who are always welcome to go back home and celebrate their batch milestone.
