'Flipped Classroom' teaching strategy cascaded to SNAMS faculty

The School of Nursing and Allied Medical Sciences (SNAMS) conducted a capacity building seminar on “Flipped Classroom” on November 23, 2018 at Mamerto G. Nepomuceno Building, Room 201 with Dr. Ricarte A. Gapuz as resource speaker.

Dr. Gapuz is an internationally known author of nursing review books both for the Philippine Nurse Licensure Examination and National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurse (US and Canada). He is an interdisciplinary education and program developer who has an unwavering passion for helping and working with educators who continue to innovate learning.

The seminar was intended to introduce flipped classroom to the faculty of SNAMS. Flipped classroom will be added to the repertoire of teaching-learning methodologies used by the faculty. In concept, flipped classroom inverts the typical cycle of acquisition, and application of content so that students gain necessary knowledge before class and instructors guide them to actively and interactively clarify and apply the knowledge during class.

The faculty participants learned about emerging concepts behind flipped classroom and the structure of a flipped lesson and went through the techniques and processes of creating flipped learning opportunities.
