SHTM bags awards in Nat’l Food Showdown 2018

Students and faculty members of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (SHTM) recently bagged awards during the National Food Showdown 2018 competition held last October 26 and 27 at the Elements at Centris, Quezon City.


Both the students and their faculty coaches braved the 2-day event as they competed with industry professionals and students from all over the country. The following are the winners and participants of the said competition: Ruselle Jean T. Ronquillo with Coach Arnel Kann S. Santos win Silver Award for the Cocktail Mixing Category; Jermel C. Manaloto (student) and Chef. Janiel Joel J. Mendoza (professional), Bronze Award for The Apprentice Category; Rizza Grace M. Narra with Coach Angelica Joy S. Ramos, Bronze Award for the Baby Chocolate Cakes Category; Earlvienn Kristopher G. Dela Cruz, Ryan P. Salunga and Jan Miguel S. Perez with Coach Prof. Vella V. Villar, Bronze Award for the Table Setting with Floral Centerpiece Category; Francis Ian C. Garcia with Coach Prof. Joy DC. David, Bronze Award for the Napkin Folding Category; and Arvin Paul L. Gomez with Coach Prof. Josephine O. Morales, Diploma Award for The Cookie Jar Category.


To date, SHTM still awaits for the commencement and result of the Food Writing Category, to be participated by Christiane Marmela Sunga, coached by Prof. Felipe B. Pablo IV, expected to happen next year.


The National Food Showdown is an annual culinary event regarded by the food and beverage industry as the country's only national and premier food event. This two-day event showcases the talent and creativity of both students and professionals in the culinary and hotel and restaurant industries.
