Holy Angel University receives PQA award in Malacañan Palace

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte conferred the 2015-2017 Philippine Quality Award (PQA) recognitions to Holy Angel University (HAU) and other 15 organizations for their commitment to quality and organizational excellence in a simple ceremony held at Malacañan Palace's Heroes Hall last October 24.

Dr. Luis Maria R. Calingo, the HAU president, led the University's contingent in accepting the highest national recognition for exemplary organizational performance, which is modeled after the US Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.

In 2016, HAU, the only Philippine higher education institution (HEI) designated as a National School of Character by the Washington, DC-based Character Education Partnership, was the lone recipient of the PQA's highest award for quality and organizational excellence.

The PQA sets the standard of excellence to help Philippine business organizations in achieving world-class performance. Moreover, it serves as a template for competitiveness based on the principle of Total Quality Management.

The other PQA's HEI awardees were Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas, Colegio de San Juan de Letran-Calamba, University of Mindanao, and University of the Philippines-National Engineering Center.

Also recipients were three from the private sectors, Reed Elsevier Shared Services (Philippines) Inc., Thomson Reuters Corporation Pte Ltd.-Philippines and Mindanao Corrugated Fiberboard Inc.; and the rest were from government institutions, including Land Bank of the Philippines, National Kidney and Transplant Institute, DOLE Region 12, DOST Regions 4-A and 9, and TESDA, among others.
