HAU-SEA Foam Shredder Team meets with DOST-TAPI for 2nd Quarter Accomplishment Meeting

The Department of Science and Technology-Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI) visits the team behind the Holy Angel University Foam Shredder on September 11, 2018, for the presentation of the PHP 2.5M DOST-TAPI-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PICIEERD) funded project “Prototype Development of Low-Cost Semi-Automated Foam Shredder Equipment”. DOST-TAPI was represented by Science Research Specialists 2, Ms. Irene Vee E. Pacaba and Engr. Lynet C. Alto.


The DOST-TAPI team was welcomed by the School of Engineering and Architecture - Foam Shedder Team headed by the Project Manager, Prof. Melani B. Cabrera, Project Support Staff, Dr. Jaypee B. Pajarillaga, Engr. Wilfredo L. Infante, Engr. R-Jay P. Quiambao, Project Coordinator, Engr. Kimberly Hazel DL. Serrano and Science Research Specialist 1, Engr. Calvin Karl R. Garganta. The Academic Research Office (ARO) Head, Dr. Ruby Pineda-Henson was also present during the discussion in support of the continuous research grants given by DOST.


The meeting was presided by Prof. Cabrera who presented the commerciality status of the Foam Shredder equipment. It was followed by Dr. Pajarillaga’s technical presentation and status update of the equipment followed by the actual demonstration to test its machinability. During the afternoon, DOST-TAPI presented its monitoring and field evaluation reports to the team showing favorable results in response to the accomplishments. In addition, they presented the Philippine Technology Transfer Act which provides support system from ownership to commercialization of Intellectual Property generated from research and development funded by any sector of the government. They also emphasized and encouraged the University to continually support the research projects for government funding program through the ARO.
