University President's Easter Message

Dear university community,

“Yet it was our pain that he bore, our sufferings he endured. We thought of him as stricken, struck down by God and afflicted. But he was pierced for our sins, crushed for our iniquity. He bore the punishment that makes us whole, by his wounds we were healed.” (Isaiah 53:4-5, NABRE)

Easter Sunday is the most important holy day on the Christian calendar. In spite of modern secular culture’s attempts to reinvent Easter as merely being about colorful eggs, gift baskets, or chocolate bunnies, we as Christians believe that Easter provides the very cornerstone of our faith in Jesus Christ’s promise of salvation and eternal life. We celebrate Easter as the culmination of Our Lord’s glorious triumph over sin and death.

To those of you who feel overwhelmed by the burdens of daily life, I urge you to reflect upon the risen Christ and to ask Jesus into your heart. Begin your day by praying:

Lord God, I thank you today for the gift of my life, and for the lives of all my family and friends. I rejoice that You have conquered death by the Resurrection of Your Son. I realize that I have sinned and fallen short of Your standard of perfection and that I am in need of a Lord and Savior who will always lead me in the right direction. I open the door of my life and ask you to come in and begin to change my life for good and for your greater glory. Amen!

May the Lord richly bless you this Easter season. Laus Deo semper!

Finally, may you enjoy the world’s largest choral rendition of the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akb0kD7EHIk

Sincerely in Christ,
