HAU-CICT's 'TUTÛ' hailed Best Paper in Regional ICT Research Colloquium

The research presentation on "TUTÛ: A Web-Based Interactive Map of Credible News Portals in the Philippines" was named Best Featured Full Paper Presentation during the 4th Regional Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Research Colloquium last March 9, 2018 at the Systems Plus College Foundation Auditorium, Angeles City.

TUTÛ was developed by four students of Holy Angel University - College of Information and Communications Technology (HAU - CICT), namely Iah Buenacosa, Vince Aldrin Cabrera, Gabriel Ocampo, and Francis Lorenx Robespierre Taberdo. This group of students were among the 16 research group presenters.

With its mission to combat misinformation through concepts of machine learning and the use of the web technologies, this web-based application is an interactive map of news articles in the Philippines which classifies news portals into 'credible' and 'not credible' through concepts of machine learning, and made with the latest web technologies. It was launched to the community during the Town Hall activation of HAU's anti-fake news campaign dubbed "I Am Real" last February 27 at the University Theatre.
