HAU-CICT ranks 5th in Philippine Programming Challenge 2017

On its first time to take part in the competition, Holy Angel University - College of Information and Communications Technology (HAU-CICT) ranked 5th place in the 3rd Philippine Programming Challenge (PPC) 2017. The Awarding Ceremony was held last March 10 at the Sequioa Hotel in Quezon City.

Through programming examinations, participating students competed in the challenge whose teams were composed of 10 members representing colleges and universities from across the country. The screening committee was composed of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP), and Gurango Software Corporation, through CodersGuild.NET.

In line with DICT's Digital PH Program Goal, the PPC 2017 is a step in supporting the software developer talent in the country and how they will manage to start-up a business.

Completing 7 out of 8 problems in the competition, Jaspher Dingal, an HAU student was offered an internship program at the Gurango Software Corporation. The other participating students from HAU were Al Jeremiah Oquindo, Aliah Grace Miranda, Ian Gabriel Sanchez, Jericho Diaz, John Joshua Jimenez, John Karlo Bathan, Kenchie Villajuan, Tjakoen Stolk, and Vince Aldrin Cabrera.

PPC aims to identify talented entry-level programmers in the country by utilizing an automated assessment tool, localized for the specific needs of the Philippine software industry.
