CICT’s ‘Greenduino’ is finalist for Smart’s 14th SWEEP Awards

Holy Angel University is among the 20 universities nationwide qualifying the 14th Smart Wireless Engineering Education Program (SWEEP) Innovation and Excellence Awards announced last January 31 on Smart Sweep's official Facebook page. The SWEEP Awards is is the first-of-its-kind partnership between the industry and the academe that seeks to enhance the quality of engineering and IT education in the Philippines. It is a program by Smart Communications that encourages innovation and excellence in wireless applications development among SWEEP partner schools.

HAU's entry, titled "Greenduino" is the study conducted by students from the College of Information and Communications Technology (CICT) about the automation of a greenhouse which uses a wireless internet connection and GSM module capable of long-distance communication. The seven students are Georwin Renz C. Alfonso, Kristel Ann N. Almanzor, Aimer N. Dela Cruz, Rewin Rock Rey D. Mendiola, Raven P. Sampang, Abigail Anne S. Sapnu, and Jenica N. Tayag.

HAU joined the 14th SWEEP BootCamp with the other finalists last March 7-8. Final judging is scheduled on April 12.
