1st Institutional Advisory Council Conducted

With the purpose of forging partnership between the industry and the academe, the first Institutional Advisory Council (IAC) was conducted by Holy Angel University.

The University was represented by the Deans, Chairpersons, Coordinators, and some faculty members of the schools and colleges. Representatives from public and private sectors like Laus Group of Companies, H & R Association of Pampanga, Singapore International Airlines, Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA), Synergy BPO Solutions, Inc., Mercedez Benz Group Servicer Phils., Inc., Quest, Jose B. Lingad (JBL) Memorial Regional Hospital, The Medical City Clark, Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Far Eastern University (FEU) Graduate School, and Francisco G. Nepomuceno Memorial High School (FGNMHS) participated.

Dr. Luis Ma. R. Calingo, the University President, delivered the Welcome Remarks and was also the first keynote speaker. He stressed on the role of the University in a society. He remarked that although the relationship between the University and the society is complex, the former may still meet the challenges; hence, becoming an authentic instrument for countryside development.

The second keynote speaker was Engr. Filemon T. Berba Jr., former president/CEO of Integrated Microelectronics, Globe Telecom, and Manila Waterworks. He discussed the roles of the academe and the industry to society, emphasizing that the academe has to help graduates to give them appropriate basic knowledge and skills like communication skills and to inculcate honesty and integrity among them. He stressed that the industry has to help academe align courses to both current industry needs and future direction.

The activity concluded with the election of the first set of officers: Dr. Carla Canlas (Quest), President; Dr. Efren Abulencia (CHED), Vice President; and Mr. Gail Galang (JBL Memorial Hosp.), Secretary.
